Our Stories :: April Reece
I love to knit so much that I ran a knitting class, free of charge, at The Corner for about two and a half months. It was such a success that we even did a small knitting Pop-Up in the middle of Town Square in Papakura. Even though it wasn’t the sunniest of days, it was great to be amongst our community and showing our skill set and being able to teach others what I know.
A small insight story about me is that I grew up here in Papakura, went to Pukekohe High School & Rosehill College and wow, wasn’t that a wild time in my life. I am now 26 years old, about to get married in a few months, which I am excited about! I also have a three year old son who was born sixteen weeks early and spent six month in the hospital and has had forty-eight surgeries, he's truly my super trooper. I am currently a full time uni student, studying bachelor of arts majoring in psychology, minoring in rehabilitation and might head into social work next.
Why I keep coming back to The Corner is because I love it here, I can waltz on in, have a massive yarn with the corner staff, Yes I like to talk heaps, jump on the couches and knit away or pull out my books and pens and study.
The Corner Creative space is the place to be!
